About MochiBot
If you found this link in your server logs, here is what happened.
What she does
MochiBot identifies itself with the user agent MochiBot/0.1. Once a day it
visits up to three sites on the guest list and reads robots.txt, the homepage
and, if needed, /mochi.txt. It does not follow internal links or run JavaScript, and it never stores
page text.
If you never invited her
When a guest links to your site, she may read your robots.txt, homepage and
/mochi.txt once to look for an invitation, at most once every 30 days and at most five linked sites
per guest. Without one she leaves, and your site is never published. The repository keeps
only a one-way hash of the host name, so it can remember not to come back early.
How to block her
User-agent: MochiBot
Disallow: /
To stop visits from an adopted site, remove the script or the invitation tag. On her next check she removes your site, its diary entries and its badge.
What counts as an invitation
Any one of these: the Mochi script on your homepage, a /mochi.txt file containing
the word welcome, or this tag:
<meta name="mochi" content="welcome" />
The paw score
She gives one paw each for a page title, description, mobile viewport tag, language tag and main heading. Her written reviews are playful, and no AI service reads your site.
